Gangapur is a State Assembly/Vidhan Sabha consituency is a part of the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat. All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s Imtiaz Jaleel Syed won this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 4492 votes.
BJP’s Bamb Prashant Bansilal won Gangapur assembly seat in 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections by a margin of 17278 votes. Runner-up Ambadas Eknath Danve of SHS bagged 38205 votes. Third position was held by NCP's Krishna Sahebrao Pa. Dongaokar. Fourth came Khosre Shobhabai Jagannath while Chavhan Sarjerao Vishwanath of IND got the fifth spot.
