SHS’s Mundada Jaiprakash Shankarlal won Basmath assembly seat in 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections by a margin of 5556 votes. Runner-up Jaiprakash Raosaheb Dandegaonkar of NCP bagged 58295 votes. Third position was held by BJP's Adv. Jadhav Shivajirao Munjajirao. Fourth came Abdul Hafiz Abdul Raheman while Adv. Iptekhar M. Jabbar Shaikh of BBM got the fifth spot.
