Maharashtra Independent Candidate Rides Camel On Busy Streets To Lok Sabha Nomination Filing: WATCH

Independent candidate from Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat rode on a camel to file his nomination for the upcoming polls.

Huge rallies with a crowd of supporters behind a political leader on their way to file nomination for an election is a common sight in the country but a candidate from Maharashtra's Aurangabad found a unique mode of transportation to register his candidature for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. 

The Independent candidate from Maharashtra's Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency, Saheb Khan Pathan caught the attention of everyone while on his way to file nomination on Tuesday as he rode on a camel through a busy street in the city. 

He also posed for the camera showing the victory sign as his camel marched forward. 

"I have been acquitted by the court...when I announced that I would be filing a nomination, some people registered a false FIR against me," he said.  

"People have told me that they love me and that I should remain steadfast," he added.  

Polling for the Aurangabad constituency will be held on May 13 which comprises 30,52,724 voters, including 16,00,169 men, 14,52,415 women and 140 third-gender persons.

On Monday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Chandrakant Khaire and Maharashtra Minister Sandipan Bhumre filed their nomination from this seat. 

A stronghold of the undivided Shiv Sena, the Bal Thackeray-founded party suffered a setback after Khaire faced an unexpected defeat at the hands of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen candidate Imtiaz Jaleel, who won by a narrow margin of less than 4,500 votes.

The Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has also fielded its candidate, Afsar Khan from the seat while sitting MP Imtiaz Jaleel will enter the poll from on AIMIM ticket from this seat.
