'Can't Contest Lok Sabha Polls, Looking Out For Rajya Sabha Seats': PM Modi Targets 'Dynasts' In Bihar

The BJP presently holds the Lok Sabha seats of Aurangabad and Begusarai. This marked Modi's first visit to Bihar since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's return, leading the JD(U) in the BJP-led NDA.

PM Modi In Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating several developmental projects in Bihar's Aurangabad on Saturday, took a direct jibe at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), saying, "People who believe in dynastic politics can take over political powers from their parents but can't talk about their work in front of people. This is the reality of such people".

"They cannot contest Lok Sabha polls so these days they are looking out for Rajya Sabha seats," the Prime Minister said further without taking any names.

"A few days ago, the pride of Bihar, Karpoori Thakur was conferred with Bharat Ratan by the Government of India. This is an honour for the entire state of Bihar," the PM said.

Addressing a public rally, where Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was also present, PM Modi said: "Today, several development projects worth Rs 21,500 crore were inaugurated. These development projects include initiatives related to road infrastructure and railways".

PM Modi inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 34,800 crore in Bihar on Saturday. Additionally, he revealed oil and gas projects valued at around Rs 1.48 lakh crore distributed across various states. It is to be noted that this marked Modi's first visit to Bihar since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's return, leading the JD(U) in the BJP-led NDA.

At 2:30 PM, the Prime Minister unveiled development projects amounting to Rs 21,400 crore in Aurangabad. He is scheduled to visit Begusarai to inaugurate projects exceeding Rs 13,400 crore.

In Aurangabad, Modi unveiled national highway projects exceeding Rs 18,000 crore and laid the groundwork for a six-lane bridge across the Ganga, parallel to the existing JP Ganga Setu.

He dedicated three railway projects to the nation, including the tripling of the Pataliputra-Pahleja line and the construction of a 26-kilometer new line between Bandhua and Paimar.

Under the Namami Gange initiative, the Prime Minister launched 12 projects valued at over Rs 2,190 crore, including wastewater treatment plants in Patna, Sonepur, Naugachia, and Chapra.

The groundwork was laid for Patna's Unity Mall, supporting the 'One District, One Product' initiative, with an estimated cost exceeding Rs 200 crore.

This is PM Modi's first visit to the state after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar switched to the NDA bloc recently. Kumar cut ties with Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in January. In 2022, he formed the Bihar government with the RJD and other Left parties.

Nitish Kumar was also a key member of the Opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc. His departure from I.N.D.I.A. is expected to have an impact on the alliance of 28 opposition parties shortly before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
