Karanja is a State Assembly/Vidhan Sabha consituency is a part of the Yavatmal Washim Lok Sabha seat. Shiv Sena’s Bhavana Pundlikrao Gawali won this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 117939 votes.
BJP’s Patni Rajendra Sukhanand won Karanja assembly seat in 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections by a margin of 4147 votes. Runner-up Punjani Mo.yusuf of BBM bagged 40604 votes. Third position was held by MNS's Ranjit Shersing Jadhav. Fourth came Prakash Uttamrao Dahake while Subhash Pandhrinath Thakare of NCP got the fifth spot.
