Akot is a State Assembly/Vidhan Sabha consituency is a part of the Akola Lok Sabha seat. Bharatiya Janata Party’s Dhotre Sanjay Shamrao won this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a margin of 275596 votes.
BJP’s Bharsakle Prakash Gunvantrao won Akot assembly seat in 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections by a margin of 31411 votes. Runner-up Gangane Mahesh Sudhakarrao of INC bagged 38675 votes. Third position was held by BBM's Wankhade Pradeep Sadashiv. Fourth came Sanjay Laxman Gawande while Raju Vitthalrao Boche of NCP got the fifth spot.
