Stuart Law steps down as West Indies head coach

Under his guidance, West Indies won 9 out of 32 Tests and 8 out of 19 T20Is

West Indies head coach Stuart Law has announced to step down from his post ahead of the tour of India beginning from October 2018. Law, who took the charge in February 2017, will accompany the team till November as his last assignment will be Bangladesh tour in November.

After his stint with the West Indies, Law is scheduled to take over the same role with Middlesex, across all formats, where he has signed for four years.

Law made this announcement through a press release where he said, “I have had to make the difficult decision to leave my role of Head Coach with CWI. It has been very enjoyable, and I believe we have made tremendous strides forward as a Team during the past 2 years.”

“I will be taking a role with Middlesex CCC which will keep me close to my family, whilst continuing within the cricket family. I wish the players and staff of CWI every success in the future,” he added.

Law’s appointment for the role came after the sacking of Phil Simmons on disciplinary grounds in September 2016. Under his guidance, West Indies won 9 out of 32 Tests and 8 out of 19 T20Is.

As far as ODIs are concerned, the team, unfortunately, failed to participate in the Champions Trophy, following which they had to compete in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers to seal themselves a place in the 2019 Cricket World Cup eventually.

After Law made his decision public, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has assured of starting the process to appoint a new Head Coach immediately
