Indian Women’s Team cricketer Deepti Sharma was appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on January 27 (Monday). A key member of the Indian women's team, she played a crucial role in India's silver medal-winning campaign at the 2023 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. And acknowledging her achievements, the UP government awarded Deepti Sharma a cash prize of ₹3 crore and an appointment letter for the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
At a special ceremony in Moradabad on Monday, Deepti was officially presented with her DSP uniform. She was accompanied by her father, Bhagwan Sharma and brothers, Sumit Sharma and Prashant Sharma, for the occasion, as per media reports. The Agra-born all-rounder had received her appointment letter from the Uttar Pradesh government last year.

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude as I achieve this milestone! I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family, whose unwavering support and blessings have been my driving force. I’m also grateful to the Uttar Pradesh Government for this opportunity to serve. As I take on this new role as DSP in the Uttar Pradesh Police, I promise to dedicate myself fully to my duties and serve with integrity. Thank you all again for your support!,” wrote the Indian cricketer on her official Instagram account.
Reacting to Deepti's Instagram post, a follower wrote, "We've another DSP in the house. (Sic) First Siraj now you. Congratulations," referencing Indian men's team pacer Mohammed Siraj, who received the same honor in Telangana in 2024.

Deepti, who earned a spot in the ICC Women's T20I Team of the Year 2024, delivered consistent performances for India throughout the year. The off-spinner picked up 30 wickets at an impressive average of 17.80 while maintaining a disciplined economy rate of 6.01 in T20Is.
