Revanth Reddy's Move To Allow Telangana Govt Employees To Leave Office Early Sparks Row During Ramzan
As per Telangana government's order, the relaxation will be effective from March 2 to March 31, 2025, allowing Muslim employees to observe fasting and prayer obligations.

The Telangana government’s recent order permitting all Muslim employees in government roles to leave at 4:00 PM during the holy month of Ramzan has sparked controversy with the BJP accusing the Congress-led state administration of "appeasement politics."
As per the order, the relaxation will be effective from March 2 to March 31, 2025, allowing Muslim employees to observe fasting and prayer obligations. However, BJP leaders have strongly opposed the move, alleging discrimination.
Taking to X, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said, "The appeasement bug strikes the Congress government in Telangana, which has approved relaxed work hours for Muslim state employees during Ramzan. No such concessions are ever granted to Hindus when they fast during Navratri. This tokenism isn’t about being sensitive to the religious beliefs of one community but about reducing them to a mere vote bank. It should be opposed."

In a social media post, MLA Raja Singh said, "Appeasement politics at its peak! Telangana govt allows early leave for Ramzan but ignores Hindu festivals. Equal rights for all, or none."
Ramadan is considered the holiest month for Muslims. It is observed as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from food, drink, smoking, and sinful behavior. The fast is broken each evening with a meal called Iftar, and the pre-dawn meal is known as Suhoor. It is a time for increased devotion, recitation of the Quran, giving to charity (Zakat), and seeking forgiveness.
