'This Is Mrityu Kumbh': Mamata Attacks Yogi Govt Over 'Mismanagement' At Maha Kumbh
Mamata Banerjee claimed that there are no arrangements for the poor at the Maha Kumbh and questioned the government over the planning made for the huge gathering at the Sangam.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday attacked the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over alleged mismanagement at Prayagraj's Maha Kumbh, calling it 'Mrityu Kumbh'.
Mamata claimed that there are no arrangements for the poor at the Maha Kumbh and questioned the government over the planning made for the huge gathering at the Sangam.
"This is 'Mrityu Kumbh'...I respect Maha Kumbh, I respect the holy Ganga Maa. But there is no planning...How many people have been recovered?...For the rich, the VIP, there are systems available to get camps (tents) for as high as Rs 1 Lakhs. For the poor, there are no arrangements at Kumbh," Mamata Banerjee said while addressing the Bengal Assembly.

At least 30 people died and 60 were injured in a stampede in Prayagraj last month while 18 people lost their lives in a recent stampede at the overcrowded New Delhi railway station.
"Stampede situation is common in a 'mela' but it is important to make arrangements. What planning did you make?" the Bengal CM added.
Mamata's remarks came even as the UP government announced that more than 54.31 crore people took holy dip till February 17. The state government said that over 99.20 lakhs holy dips till 4 pm on Tuesday.
She also took a dig at BJP MLAs, claiming, "The BJP MLAs are afraid of facing me and that’s why they boycott the House whenever I speak.” Responding to accusations linking her to the Muslim League, Banerjee strongly condemned such remarks.
“I am accused of being a member of the Muslim League. I strongly condemn these baseless allegations. Reaffirming her commitment to secularism, she added, “I believe in secularism, coexistence, and the development of all communities," she said.
