Veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who is currently earning praise for his role in Sanya Malhotra’s 'Mrs', reacted to Naseeruddin Shah’s remark on Amitabh Bachchan.

Veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who is currently earning praise for his role in Sanya Malhotra’s 'Mrs', reacted to Naseeruddin Shah’s remark on Amitabh Bachchan that the megastar is more of a businessman than an actor.
Kanwaljit defends Amitabh Bachchan
In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Kanwaljit defended the legendary superstar, stating, “No, no, I have great regards for Mr. Bachchan. I think he is a very fine actor.” He further reflected on Shah’s journey in parallel cinema, calling him ‘lucky’ to have found his niche in that space. However, he disagreed with the notion that Bachchan isn’t a great performer. “Naseer was lucky to realise that he wouldn’t be cast in commercial films because that was the time when people were making parallel cinema. If those kinds of films weren’t being made, then what? Naseer is my jaan, I call him the God of acting, but we can’t say that for Bachchan sahab,” he explained.

Naseeruddin Shah’s criticism of Amitabh Bachchan
This isn’t the first time Naseeruddin Shah has been critical of Amitabh Bachchan’s work. In a 2010 interview with NewsX, Shah dismissed Sholay as “not a great film”, arguing that while it was entertaining, it lacked artistic depth. “He hasn’t made any great film. Sholay is not a great film, it’s entertaining for sure, but not great,” he had said.
On the professional front
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan was recently seen in the sci-fi blockbuster ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and will soon appear in ‘Vettaiyan’. Naseeruddin Shah, on the other hand, last featured in Sonu Sood’s action-packed film ‘Fateh’.
