Rishabh Pant Could Become No. 1 Wicketkeeper-Batter In Tests

At just 27 years old, Pant has featured in 44 Test matches, scoring 3,082 runs at an average of 43.41, including 7 centuries.

Rishabh Pant’s century against England in the first Test has once again highlighted his value as a match-winner in red-ball cricket.

With this remarkable knock, Pant has now become India’s most successful wicketkeeper-batsman in terms of Test centuries — surpassing MS Dhoni.

On Track to Become Best in World

At just 27 years old, Pant has featured in 44 Test matches, scoring 3,082 runs at an average of 43.41, including 7 centuries. This puts him among the top wicketkeeper-batsmen globally.

Australia’s Adam Gilchrist tops the all-time list with 17 Test centuries, followed by Andy Flower (12), Les Ames (8), and AB de Villiers (7). Pant is now tied with de Villiers and could soon surpass him to move higher up the list.

Pant Chasing Gilchrist’s Legacy

Not only is Pant climbing the centuries chart, but he also has the potential to become the highest run-scorer among wicketkeepers in Tests.

Gilchrist currently holds that record with 5,570 runs in 96 matches. Pant, with over 3,000 runs already, needs around 2,500 more to surpass him. Given his current form and fitness, it’s a realistic goal over the next few years.

Pant continues to be India’s X-factor in Test cricket and could soon be regarded as the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the world.

Pant Completes 150 Catches in Test Cricket

India's vice-captain and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant reached a mega milestone during the ongoing Test series against England by completing 150 catches in Test cricket.

At just 27, Pant has become one of India’s most dependable keepers, both with the bat and behind the stumps.

This achievement puts Pant in elite company among Indian wicketkeepers. MS Dhoni leads the list with 256 catches in Tests, followed by Syed Kirmani (160) and Wriddhiman Saha (135). Globally, South Africa’s Mark Boucher holds the record for the most catches by a wicketkeeper in Tests with 532, followed by Australia’s Adam Gilchrist (379).
