Watch: Angry Rishabh Pant Throws Ball In Frustration At Umpire's Controversial Decision

Frustrated with umpire's decision, Rishabh Pant threw the ball down in anger, sparking a reaction from the crowd.

The Headingley Test between India and England continues to swing in both directions. On Day 3, the match remained finely poised as India managed to pick two crucial wickets in the first session.

However, an unexpected moment of drama unfolded when vice-captain Rishabh Pant lost his temper during a disagreement with the umpire.

What Triggered Pant’s Outburst?

During a phase where England was scoring freely, with Harry Brook attacking every bowler and Ben Stokes offering solid support, Team India tried to slow the momentum.

Pant, along with captain Shubman Gill, appealed to umpire Chris Gaffaney for a ball change, claiming it had become worn out. Gaffaney, however, ruled that the ball was still fit for play.

Frustrated with the decision, Rishabh Pant threw the ball down in anger, sparking a reaction from the crowd. The wicketkeeper's visible agitation became a talking point, though he quickly regained his composure and play resumed.

India Eyes a Comeback

At the time of writing, England stands at 286/5. Harry Brook remains unbeaten on 46, while Jamie Smith is at the crease with 5. Earlier, India struck through Prasidh Krishna (removing Pope for 106) and Siraj (dismissing Stokes for 20). With England inching toward their lower order, India has a clear opportunity to seize control.

Pant Breaks Dhoni's Record

On Day 2 of the first Test between India and England, Rishabh Pant added another feather to his cap by surpassing MS Dhoni to become India’s wicketkeeper with the most Test centuries. Pant achieved this milestone with a stunning century, marking his 7th in Test cricket.

Most Test Centuries by Indian Wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant – 7*, MS Dhoni – 6, Wriddhiman Saha – 3.
