IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma Hails Rishabh Pant For Impressive Comeback - WATCH

Rishabh Pant scored a determined 39 runs off 52 balls in the first innings and followed it with a stellar 109 runs off 128 balls in the second innings.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma commended Rishabh Pant for his impressive comeback in Test cricket. India vs Bangladesh Test series marked Pant's return to the longest format after more than 20 months.

He scored a determined 39 runs off 52 balls in the first innings and followed it with a stellar 109 runs off 128 balls in the second innings, achieving his sixth Test century. This milestone also places him level with MS Dhoni for the most centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in Tests.

Rohit acknowledged the challenges Pant faced following his serious car crash.

"He's been through some really tough times. The way he has managed himself was superb to watch. He came back in the IPL, followed by a successful World Cup and this is a format he loves the most. It was about giving him the game time. Credit to him, he had an impact straightaway. No matter what the conditions are, we want to build the team around that," said Rohit in the post-match presentation.

India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs, take 1-0 lead in IND vs BAN Test series

Led by Rohit Sharma, India secured a 280-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test, bowling them out for 234 on Day 4, thanks to Ravichandran Ashwin's six-wicket haul. India is looking to continue their winning streak in the second Test, starting September 27 at Green Park, Kanpur.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the same squad retained for the upcoming IND vs BAN 2nd Test match.

There were rumors that Jasprit Bumrah might be rested for Kanpur Test, but the senior pacer has been retained for the series finale.
