R Ashwin broke multiple records by taking a six-wicket haul against Bangladesh to help India win the IND vs BAN Test at Chennai by 280 runs. Here's a look at some of the major records Ashwin broke.

Ravichandran Ashwin breathed fire with bowl and bat in the 1st India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as India defeated the Bangla Tigers by 280 runs in the first match of the series. Ashwin bagged a six-wicket haul giving away 88 runs in the fourth innings to help India bowl out Bangladesh for 234 runs. Notably, there are a few records that Ashwin broke while running riot through the Bangladesh’s batting lineup.

Ashwin, 38-year-old, bagged his 37th five-fer in 101 Tests equalling one of the greatest cricket has ever seen, Australia’s Shane Warne. He only stands behind Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, who has 67 five-fers in 133 Tests.

He also now has most five-wicket hauls in the World Test Championship (WTC) history with 11 five-wicket hauls to his name in 36 WCT matches, He went past his contemporary, Australia’s Nathan Lyon who has 10 five-wicket hauls in 43 WTC matches.

Ashwin also became the highest wicket-taking Indian bowler in fourth innings of Tests with 99 wickets in total, surpassing former India cricketer Anil Kumble's record of 94 wickets.
