Mumbai: One of the most iconic director-actor duos of Bollywood – Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar is all set to collaborate on a new project after the 2010 film ‘Khatta Meetha’. The duo has delivered some of the best rib-tickling content to the audience with ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’, ‘Garam Masala’ and others.

The audience loves watching the duo spill magic on-screen and have been eagerly waiting for their next project. Well, the wait is over finally as while giving an interview to IANS, Priyadarshan revealed that his next project with Akshay Kumar is ‘happening next year’.

The director told the agency, “Yes that is happening next year. It was supposed to happen this year but got pushed. We start shooting next year.”

The ‘Hungama 2’ director further told that it will be a comedy film. “It will be a comedy film. I don't want to take any more risks. Let me entertain my audience. So far, the films in which we both worked have been very successful. Those were almost 70 per cent humorous films with a nice emotional ending”, revealed Priyadarshan.

Meanwhile, Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Hungama 2’ is all set for OTT release on July 16. The film stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Meezaan Jaffrey in the lead roles. This movie marks the director’s comeback to the Hindi film industry after 8 years.

Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, has a number of upcoming projects in his kitty. He will be next seen starring in ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
