Ajay Devgn Announces NEW Release Date Of 'Maidaan', Says 'The Untold Story Will Make Every Indian Proud'

Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim in Maidaan.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, last seen in ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, has announced the new release of his upcoming film ‘Maidaan’. The sports drama, which was earlier slated to hit the silver screens on December 11, 2020, will now release on August 13 next year. The film is based on golden years of Indian football. He shared a poster from the film along with the caption, “2021 Independence week. An untold story that will make every Indian proud. 13th August mark the date. #Maidaan2021.” His tweet was enough to create buzz for the film on the micro-blogging site. The hashtag #AjayDevgn trended on Twitter after the ‘Golmaal’ actor made the announcement. Check out his post!
Earlier this year, the 'Raid' actor shared two posters from 'Maidaan'. He wrote, “Badlav lane ke liye ek akela bhi kafi hota hai”
Ajay can be seen holding a football in his hand in the poster. He shared the photo along with the caption, "Yeh kahaani hai Indian football ke Golden phase ki aur uske sabse badey aur successful coach ki."
Ajay Devgn will essay the role of legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who is considered as the ‘architect of modern Indian football.’ The film is being helmed by Amit Sharma, who directed Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Badhaai Ho’. ‘Maidaan’ co-starring Gajraj Rao and Priyamani is being co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios. On the professional front, Ajay Devgn will be next seen in 'Bhuj: The Pride Of India'. The war action film was slated to hit the silver screens on August 14, 2020. However, the movie will premiere directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
