Samay Raina's friend says he is 'scared and depressed'

In a now-deleted video, Shwetabh shared that during a phone call with his friend Samay amid the controversy, he sounded deeply upset.

"Bhaisahab, toota hua hai vo insaan (He is a broken man). When the controversy first erupted, I could still see the old Samay in him, but when I spoke to him last time, I saw a broken man... depressed, sad, scared," he said, as reported by Free Press Journal.

Shwetabh explained that he took a break from social media because he felt powerless, unable to support Samay during such a difficult time. "I was emotionally drained. I couldn't see my friend like that," Shwetabh said.

India’s Got Latent controversy

Samay Raina is currently in Canada for his live shows following the India’s Got Latent controversy and has requested time until March 17 to return to India and record his official statement.

During Ranveer Allahbadia’s Supreme Court hearing on Monday, Justice Surya Kant, without directly naming Samay Raina, criticised the younger generation for being 'oversmart.' The court remarked, 'These youngsters are being oversmart. One of them went to Canada and spoke about all of this… they don’t understand the consequences. We don’t want to take action because they are young, and we understand,' according to Live Law. This came after Samay jokingly addressed the controversy during his recent London show, mentioning that ticket sales were helping cover his lawyer’s fees.
