Could The MG 3 Hybrid Be A Surprise Baleno Competitor?
The new generation MG 3 is sharper and has a longer wheelbase while being much more premium over its predecessor
It is the first non plug-in hybrid premium hatchback from MG and it could form a case for itself as this segment still has demand amongst an onslaught of SUVs. MG Motor will showcase its plans for the Indian market in a few days time and also show us some models too. The MG 3 slots in as an important car for our market.
The new generation MG 3 is sharper and has a longer wheelbase while being much more premium over its predecessor. It has a large gaping grille at the front and the interior has a new digital instrument cluster plus a 10.25-in touchscreen. Other features include a 360 degree camera and more.
The MG 3 is a hybrid which means it has a 1.5l petrol plus an electric motor. It is their first strong hybrid and also it does not require any charging too. The MG 3 could be an interesting Baleno rival of sorts for the Indian markets if priced well and developed to fit our demands.

The hybrid version would be more expensive but has a highlight which would not be matched by others. MG Motor has said that it will launch two cars this year amongst new EVs. Showcased recently at the Geneva Motor Show, it rivals the Hyundai i20 and others while MG has high hopes regarding its global sales potential.
The previous generation MG 3 was showcased earlier in India to gauge feedback but this new bigger/better equipped car is a perfect fit for our premium hatchback segment and will give more volume potential for MG to grow further here.
Other than an internal combustion engined car, MG will also launch an EV this year as it wants to increase its EV sales too and bring in more models.
