Maruti Dzire AMT Vs Manual: Which One To Buy?

At low speeds, the engine has been tuned for driveability as you do not need many downshifts but to get the best out of this engine, you need to rev it while working the gearbox

The new Dzire like before continues to be available with manual as well as AMT options while the engine is a new Z series three cylinder unit with 82bhp. Here, let us tell you which Dzire makes more sense, the AMT or the manual. The manual gearbox remains a more enthusiast focussed car with a light gearbox along with a slick gearshift plus it has a light clutch too. It is quite easy to drive and fun to use when driven hard or even at stop-go traffic when the clutch or the gearshift isn't heavy.

Maruti Dzire AMT Vs Manual: Which One To Buy?

At low speeds, the engine has been tuned for driveability as you do not need many downshifts but to get the best out of this engine, you need to rev it while working the gearbox. Here, the manual is more engaging and is actually the faster Dzire. However, for city use mostly, we feel the AMT is the better option since it is now much smoother and basically drives like any conventional automatic at low speeds. At low speeds, you drive effortlessly and in traffic, the AMT is more relaxing. Yes, when at higher speeds, the AMT gearbox has a lag in shifts but there is a manual function while for mostly city based usage-for which the Dzire has been made for, the AMT makes more sense.

You cannot get the AGS in the base variant but elsewhere, it is a Rs 45,000 increase for which we think it is worth it for mostly city commuting. The manual is more fun and faster but the AMT is more relaxing, easier to drive and more effortless.
