WhatsApp To Soon Let Users Get A New In-App Dialer, No Need To Save A Contact Before Calling

This feature can help users in limiting the need to save a contact if they feel like it's too much of a hassle.

Meta is rolling out a new in-app dialer for Android beta users with which they will be able to call a number without having to first save it in their contacts. According to a report by the WABetaInfo, the company is testing the dialer in the Android "2.24.13.17" beta version. The new dialer which is being rolled out will be first available to the beta users who will try this and then later in the coming weeks, it will be rolled out for the normal WhatsApp users too.

As per the report, this feature can help in improving the calling experience on the platform and it will help users in limiting the need to save a contact if they feel like it's too much of a hassle. The report added that the feature is being tested with a larger audience after being spotted in development in April 2024. WhatsApp Beta users are likely to receive a floating button within the 'Calls' tab. The people who are testing it must update their app to the latest version first if they wish to check if the option is rolling out in their build or not.

WABetaInfo Shares Screenshot Of The New Feature

WABetaInfo shared a screenshot in a tweet in which they showcased the dialer icon above the green new call button. Have a look at it here:

If you tap on the icon then it is expected to open the dialer with the necessary buttons which would make a call and eliminate the need to save a number in your contacts or you may also call them via the chat screen.

The messaging icon present in the dialer will also let the user experience easy messaging with the respective phone number if the contact is on WhatsApp. It will also be able to enable faster calling and saving contacts to the phonebook for easier accessibility. This upcoming feature will also let users know if the mobile number that they entered in the dialer has a WhatsApp account or not.
