Vivo Is The First To Roll Out Stable Android 15 Update, Leaves Google & Samsung Behind

Google confirmed that the Pixel 9 series will receive the Android 15 update next month. Samsung has yet to release the beta build of OneUI 7, suggesting that the stable version might come late.

Usually Google is the first company to roll out the stable version of the latest Android updates but it seems like the tech giant has finally witnessed a turtle and rabbit race in real life. Vivo has become the first company to release a stable Android 15 update to devices like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and the Vivo X100 series. Vivo will officially launch the Funtouch OS 15 on September 30, however, some devices have started to receive this update now itself.

It is likely that we might see the same update rolled out to some iQoo smartphones that also run on Funtouch OS.

Google recently rolled out the Android 15 AOSP build, serving as the foundation for various custom Android skins like OxygenOS, Funtouch OS, OneUI, Nothing OS, realme UI, ColorOS, HyperOS, and others.

Other Brands V. Vivo

Google has confirmed that the Pixel 9 series and other eligible Pixel models will receive the Android 15 update in October. Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to release the beta build of OneUI 7, suggesting that the stable version could still be a while away. Brands like OnePlus, Nothing, and Xiaomi are expected to update select devices to Android 15 by late 2024.

Funtouch OS 15, built on Android 15, will offer a heavily customized experience with numerous enhancements over stock Android. According to the official changelog, the update promises a smoother experience alongside added customization options. It also introduces system-wide changes such as improved power consumption and enhanced system effects.

It's noteworthy that Vivo has provided the latest Android update to its foldable X Fold 3 Pro, which demands additional refinement. The software must be optimised for both the main cover display and the foldable screen, ensuring smooth transitions and app functionality when switching between the two.
