Donald Trump To Seek Prosecution Against Google If He Wins US Presidential Elections

In July, just days after an attempted assassination targeting the former US President, Elon Musk, echoed these concerns.

Former US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he will seek the prosecution of Google if he wins the upcoming US Presidential Elections on November 5. One of the key reasons that Trump gave for seeking this was that Google only displays "bad stories" about him. The former US President, in his post on Truth Social, refrained from giving any evidence for this allegation.

Donald Trump said, “It has been determined that Google has illegally used a system of only revealing and displaying bad stories about Donald J. Trump, some made up for this purpose while, at the same time, only revealing good stories about Kamala Harris. This is an illegal activity, and hopefully the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant interference of elections.”

Trump added, “If not, and subject to the laws of our country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the election, and become president of the United States.”

Trump Made Similar Claims In The Past

According to the Washington Post, Donald Trump had made similar allegations against Google back in 2019. In a series of tweets, now known as posts on X, Trump claimed that Google had prioritised negative news stories about him during the 2016 presidential election. At the time, Google responded to these accusations by dismissing them outright.

Recently, however, these allegations have resurfaced, with some of Trump's supporters revisiting the claims. In July, just days after an attempted assassination targeting the former president, Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X, echoed these concerns. Musk publicly accused Google of imposing a search ban on Trump in a post, fueling a fresh round of controversy around the tech giant’s role in political discourse.
