Elon Musk’s Twitter Restores Blue Tick For Users With Over 1 Million Followers: Report

Although the company is restoring the blue tick, there is no official statement from Twitter on the matter so far.

Twitter has started restoring the blue tick badges, free of cost, to several accounts that have over one million followers.  This comes after the microblogging platform removed the blue checks from multiple high-profile accounts across the world. Just a few days ago, the platform started removing the legacy blue tick from all accounts that did not pay the subscription fee for the badges earlier. But in a surprising turn of events, many celebrities such as actor Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah got back their blue ticks badges on Sunday.

The highly celebrated blue ticks have now been returning to most celebrity accounts who lost the badges earlier. Top cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who lost the blue tick mark on their Twitter handles, have also got them back, reported news agency PTI.

However, there was no immediate clarity on whether or not these accounts with reinstated blue ticks have paid for the verification. Although the company is restoring the blue tick, there is no official statement from Twitter on the matter so far, reported PTI.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also got back his blue tick, However, he said he never paid for it and wondered if Elon Musk has paid for his subscription too.

Abdullah Tweeted, “Apparently I've paid for Twitter Blue & given them a phone number to verify except that I haven't. Mr Musk are you paying for mine as well?"

Multiple other accounts of celebrities across the world such as Chadwick Boseman, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jackson, too have got the blue tick back.

Interestingly, a few high-profile personalities like American author Stephen King, US professional basketball player LeBron James and legendary actor William Shatner did not lose their blue tick as Musk announced he was personally paying for their subscriptions.
