Varanasi: Over 200 Two-Wheelers Gutted In Massive Blaze At Cantt Railway Station

Fire at a Varanasi Cantt Railway Station parking destroys several two-wheelers.

In a massive fire, more than 200 two-wheelers were gutted in the parking lot of Varanasi Cantt Railway Station in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred around 1:30 am. There have been no reports of any casualties.

The two-wheeler parking of the railway staff is set behind the Government Railway Police (GRP) station located near platform number one of the railway station. While the firefighters were called it took them time to arrive, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly. In the video shared by PTI, a huge blaze can be seen from a distance. After the flames were doused, police inspected the scene and the damage caused by the fire.

According to an NDTV report, about 12 fire brigade vehicles were deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire, accompanied by teams from the GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police. The fire was doused after a 2-hour long operation.

Seeing the fire grow people at the railway station scrambled from the area, expecting it to spread further.

According to the preliminary investigation, the fire was caused due to a short circuit.

This comes after a fire broke out in a foam and furniture factory in the Ghazipur area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The fire broke out at around 6:30 pm in the factory located in the limits of the Ghazipur Police Station. After receiving the information, several fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flame.
