5 Coaches Of Passenger Train Gutted In Fire In Mumbai's Ahmednagar District, No Casualties Reported

A fire engulfed five coaches of a diesel-electric multiple unit (DEMU) passenger train near Narayandoh station in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district on Monday afternoon. No casualties were reported, according to railway officials cited by news agency PTI. The affected train, identified as No. 01402, was en route to Ahmednagar in western Maharashtra from Ashti station in Beed district, situated in the central region of the state. At this time, the exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
Dr. Shivraj Manaspure, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for Central Railway, informed that no passengers sustained injuries during the blaze, PTI reported. The fire began at approximately 3 p.m., and all passengers safely disembarked from the train before the flames could spread further and cause any injuries or loss of life.

The flames primarily consumed the guard-side brake van and four adjacent coaches, as confirmed by the CPRO, Dr. Shivraj Manaspure. Prompt action was taken as fire brigades from Ahmednagar, located approximately 250km from Mumbai, rushed to the scene. They successfully doused the fire by around 4:10 p.m., the report mentioned.
Additionally, an Accident Relief Train (ART) was dispatched to the site from Daund station in the Pune district to assist in managing the situation, PTI reported.
The affected section of the railway is part of the Ahmednagar-Parali line under the purview of the Central Railway. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, details regarding the same are awaited.
