'Her Attitude Was Same Before Polls': Adhir Chowdhury On Mamata Skipping I.N.D.I.A Bloc Meet

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury hit out at the West Bengal Chief Minister over her saying that she has an event planned on the date of the meeting.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday took a jibe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her scheduling a programme on the day that overlaps with the I.N.D.I.A. bloc meeting's date. The Congress leader said that Banerjee's attitude was similar even before the elections (four-state assembly election). He added that the West Bengal CM never appealed to the people to vote for the Opposition so that it could have defeated the BJP.

Chowdhury told news agency ANI, "Her attitude was similar even before the elections. There were elections in five states but she never appealed to the people to vote for Opposition to defeat BJP."

Congress called for I.N.D.I.A. alliance meeting to be held on December 6. After this announcement, Mamata Banerjee expressed her lack of awareness regarding any such meeting. During a media address on Monday, the West Bengal CM stated that her party was not informed about the INDIA bloc's intention to convene a session in New Delhi.

She said, "I don't know, I have got no information so I kept a programme in North Bengal. If we had the information, we wouldn't have scheduled those programmes. We would have definitely gone (for the meeting), but we have not received any information"

Notably, the upcoming INDIA bloc meeting comes after Congress lost the State Assembly Elections in three out of four states. The Grand Old Party was only able to win the elections in Telangana by defeating the KCR-led BRS party.

With the Lok Sabha polls merely four to five months away, discussions on seat-sharing are expected to dominate the agenda.
