Rishabh Pant Suspended For IPL 2024 RCB vs DC Match
Rishabh Pant Suspended: The DC captain has been suspended by the IPL in addition to being fined for breaching the code of conduct by the tournament.
Rishabh Pant Suspended: Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has been suspended for one match for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. The same was confimed in a per a press release shared by the tournament on Saturday (May 11). The suspension means Pant will now miss DC's match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scheduled to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (May 12).
Pant's DC was found guilty of a slow over-rate offence for the third time in IPL 2024 and consequently not only was the captain fined but has even been suspended for a game. The rest of the members of the Playing 11 of the match, including the Impact Player, were also handed a fine.

"As it was Rishabh Pant’s team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 30 Lakh and suspended for one match. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," an official statement from the IPL read.
"As per Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Delhi Capitals filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the Match Referee. Following this, the appeal was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman for review. The Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and affirmed that the decision of the Match Referee remains final and binding," the statement added.

RCB, DC Both Alive In Race To IPL 2024 Playoffs
Meanwhile, RCB and DC are both alive in the race to the IPL 2024 Playoffs. While RCB are at 10 points from 12 matches, DC have 12 points from 12 matches. Chances of qualification are bleaker for Bengaluru than for DC. Pant's absence will be a big blow to DC who will require a different keeper and someone to take step-in as the captain.
