The company emphasized that this tool can help creators produce footage that is hard to source or transform their ideas into reality.

AI Video Creation For YouTube Shorts

In a blog post, YouTube revealed that it is incorporating Google DeepMind's Veo 2 video generation model into Dream Screen. With this integration, creators can produce complete AI-generated videos for use in YouTube Shorts—the platform's vertical short-video feature, introduced in 2020.

The newly added functionality allows users to create videos by entering text prompts. Powered by Veo 2, the tool generates footage based on the description provided, making it easier for creators to produce unique and hard-to-find clips.

Veo 2, launched in December 2024, is the successor to Google's Veo AI model. How To Use Veo 2 Feature On Shorts

To create videos using the new tool, users need to:

  • Open the Shorts camera.
  • Click on the "Add" button to access the media picker.
  • Click on "Create" from the top menu.
  • Enter their text prompt in the provided field.
  • Choose a preferred style.
  • Tap "Create video" and select the video length.
