India Set For Captaincy Change: Rohit Sharma's Test Exit And Possible New Captain
India and England will face off in a five-match Test series, set to begin on June 20.

Jasprit Bumrah India captain for IND vs ENG Test series: Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma has been under pressure due to his prolonged struggles with both the bat and his leadership. His inability to score consistently, coupled with India's disappointing performances, has raised serious questions about his future in the longest format.
After suffering a 3-0 whitewash at home against New Zealand, India endured a crushing 4-1 series loss in Australia. These consecutive defeats not only dashed India's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship 2025 final but also put Rohit Sharma's Test career in jeopardy.
Major Update on Rohit Sharma's Test Future
Amid growing uncertainty over Rohit's place in the Indian squad, a major update has surfaced. According to a PTI report, Jasprit Bumrah's injury scans have shown positive results, though he has yet to resume full-intensity bowling.
As a precaution, Bumrah has been left out of the Champions Trophy squad. However, he is expected to return for India's tour of England, possibly as the new Test captain. If Bumrah leads the team, Rohit may not even be included in the squad.
India and England will face off in a five-match Test series, set to begin on June 20.
"He (Jasprit Bumrah) can come back for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and then lead India in England as Rohit Sharma is unlikely to be picked for Tests again,” a source close to the proceedings told PTI.
Jasprit Bumrah's crucial role in India-England Tests
Jasprit Bumrah is expected to play a key role in India vs England Test series, given his outstanding performance in Australia, where he took 32 wickets and played a decisive role in India's only Test win under his captaincy.
The BCCI is prioritizing his long-term fitness, opting to rest him for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to ensure he is fully prepared for the England tour. If he returns as captain, it could mark the beginning of a new era for India's Test team.
End of Rohit Sharma's Test Career?
Rohit Sharma had a disappointing series in Australia, scoring just 31 runs in three Tests. Despite his success in white-ball cricket, his Test career has been inconsistent. Over 67 Tests, he has scored 4302 runs with 12 centuries, but if he is not selected for the England tour, these could be his final career figures in Test cricket.
