Since its inception in 1998 as the ICC Knockout Tournament - later renamed the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 - the event has witnessed some of cricket's finest leaders guiding their teams to success.

Ricky Ponting (Australia)

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting leads this list, having guided his team to a record 12 victories in the tournament. Under his leadership, Australia suffered only three losses, with one match ending in no result. His impressive win percentage of 75 percent cements his place as the most dominant captain in Champions Trophy history.

Brian Lara (West Indies)

West Indies legend Brian Lara ranks second, having led his team to 11 wins in 15 matches. Under his captaincy, the West Indies reached the final three times and lifted the trophy in 2004. His exceptional leadership resulted in a win percentage of 73.33 percent.

Stephen Fleming (New Zealand)

New Zealand's Stephen Fleming captained his team in every edition of the tournament from its inception. His most remarkable achievement came in 2000 when he led the Black Caps to their first-ever ICC title. He also took them to the final in 2006, where they finished as runners-up to Australia.

Sourav Ganguly (India)

One of India's most influential captains, Sourav Ganguly, enjoyed great success in ICC Champions Trophy. Under his leadership, India won seven matches and lost only two. In 2002, he led India to a joint-title victory with Sri Lanka. His win percentage stood at an impressive 63.63 percent.

Graeme Smith (South Africa)

Former South African captain Graeme Smith also ranks among ICC Champions Trophy tournament's most notable leaders. He captained South Africa in nine matches, securing four wins. Although his win percentage of 44.44 percent is lower than others on this list, Smith's tactical acumen kept South Africa competitive throughout the tournament.
