IPL 2025: 8 Teams Confirm Captains, These Two Teams Yet To Decide

IPL 2025 captains: All 10 teams are finalizing their preparations for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with just over a month left for the mega T20 tournament. While most teams have retained their captains from last season, some have opted for leadership changes.
Among the major announcements, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) appointed Rajat Patidar as their new captain on February 13. However, two teams - Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) - are yet to confirm their captains.
Who will lead defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)?
The reigning IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are searching for a new leader after choosing not to retain Shreyas Iyer, who led them to the title last season. Iyer was picked up by Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 mega auction, leaving KKR with a captaincy void. The two frontrunners for KKR's captaincy role are Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, both of whom bring valuable experience to the squad.
Delhi Capitals' leadership puzzle
Delhi Capitals (DC) have also not yet announced their captain for IPL 2025. While Axar Patel remains a strong candidate, the franchise also secured KL Rahul in the mega auction, making him a possible option for the captaincy role. Fans are eagerly awaiting the final decision.
