Fire Breaks Out At Ashram In Maha Kumbh Mela Amid Weekend Rush, 7 Tents Gutted
A fire erupted at an ashram in Maha Kumbh's Sector 19 on Saturday.

A fire broke out at an ashram in sector 19 of Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday gutting seven tents. Fire tenders were pressed to service and the flames were contained.
The incident comes two days after a fire erupted in Sector 6 of the Mela area causing panic among attendees. Fire brigade teams reached the spot and contained the blaze preventing further damage.
"After receiving the information about the fire incident, fire services and other emergency services arrived at the spot within five minutes," said Prayagaj Additional Director General Bhanu Bhaskar.

There is officially no loss of life, but the investigation is underway. Fire is under control now," he added.
On February 9, a Kalpavasi tent in Sector 19 was gutted after a fire broke out due to a gas cylinder leak. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the flames were doused within 10 minutes. However, the tent was destroyed and no injuries were reported.
There have been multiple fire accidents and a major stampede, killing 30, at the Maha Kumbh Mela since the commencement of the religious congregation on January 13.

On Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh government said that over 51 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh Mela with one crore taking the dip on just Saturday.
The weekend has added to the influx with the crowd swelling across the banks of the river Ganga.
By 2 pm on Saturday, 92 lakh 12 thousand devotees had taken a holy dip. Among them, 2 lakh Kalpvasis and 90 lakh 12 thousand devotees performed the sacred bath. By February 14, more than 50 crore 11 lakh people had taken a holy dip at the Mahakumbh.
