Elvish Yadav Denies Racism Allegations After NCW Summons Over Remarks On Bigg Boss 18's Chum Darang
Elvish Yadav found himself in the middle of controversy after making comments about 'Bigg Boss 18' contestant and actor Chum Darang. He has now dismissed the accusations of racism.

Popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav found himself in the middle of controversy after making comments about 'Bigg Boss 18' contestant and actor Chum Darang’s. His remarks sparked outrage, leading the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) to intervene. In response to the criticism, Elvish has dismissed the accusations of racism, calling them ‘false’ and ‘misleading.’
Elvish Yadav’s response
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Elvish attempted to clarify his stance, stating that his words had been taken out of context and misrepresented.
“A statement from my podcast is being taken out of context and presented in a misleading way. There was never any intention to target or insult anyone. I have always believed in respect and inclusivity, and those who know me understand that I have nothing but love for everyone. It’s unfortunate that a false narrative is being created, completely misrepresenting my words,” he wrote.

Dismissing claims of racism, he further added, “This whole issue is based on false allegations of racism, which is simply not true. To avoid further misinterpretation, the statement was removed from the podcast, and I also addressed the clarification in my next vlog. I have always stood for positivity and inclusivity and will continue to do so.”
Elvish Yadav summoned
The controversy erupted after the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) strongly denounced Yadav’s comments, labeling them "derogatory and racist." In a formal letter to the NCW chairperson, APSCW chief Kenjum Pakam stated that Yadav’s remarks were not only offensive to Darang but also disrespectful to women from the Northeast. Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner has been summoned to appear before the NCW on February 17.
What Elvish said
The remarks were made during a podcast where Yadav, in conversation with Bigg Boss 18 contestant Rajat Dalal said, “Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”
Chum Darang’s reaction
Without naming Elvish directly, Chum took to Instagram to voice her disappointment over the incident. In a pointed post, she criticised those who disguise mockery as humor, emphasizing that certain lines should not be crossed.
“Disrespecting someone's identity and name is not 'fun.' Mocking someone's achievements is not 'banter.' It's time we draw the line between humor and hate. What's even more disappointing is that this wasn't just about my ethnicity—my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected,” she wrote.
