IPL 2024 Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 on May 11 (Saturday), at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. In the game that got reduced to 16 overs for each side due to rain, KKR batted first and scored 157-7 in their 16 overs. Mumbai, despite getting a wonderful start, lost wickets at regular intervals and could only reach 139 runs for eight wickets.

With the win, KKR now are the first team in the IPL 2024 to officially qualify for the playoffs. KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana scored the most runs for the team in the first innings of the rain-marred match between KKR and MI, along with cameos from Andre Russell and Rinku Singh. For Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan scored 40 runs off just 22 balls up the top but Rohit Sharma’s painful innings of 19 runs off 24 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s innings of 11 runs off 14 balls was something the team could not recover from.
