GT vs MI Eliminator Under Rain Threat - Who Advances If Match Is Washed Out?

According to the latest weather forecast, there is a approx 59% chance of rainfall in Chandigarh on Friday.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Eliminator between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) is set to take place on Friday, May 30, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.

However, the match faces a serious threat from the weather, casting a shadow of uncertainty over this high-stakes encounter.

Rain threat over GT vs MI clash

According to the latest weather forecast, there is a approx 59% chance of rainfall in Chandigarh on Friday.

The temperature is expected to range between 33°C and 26°C, with humidity around 41% and winds reaching speeds of 10 km/h. If rain disrupts the match or leads to a washout, it could have a major impact on the outcome.

What if GT vs MI match is washed out?

As per IPL rules, if the Eliminator match is abandoned due to rain and no result is possible, the team that finished higher in the league stage points table will advance to the next round.

In this case, Gujarat Titans, who finished third, will move forward. Mumbai Indians, who ended the league phase in fourth place, will be knocked out of the tournament without a ball being bowled, if rain prevents any play.

Big day for MI and GT

With the weather forecast uncertain, both teams - and fans - will be hoping for clear skies. A washout would mean heartbreak for Mumbai Indians and a free pass for Gujarat Titans into the next stage.
