David Warner Called Back After Being Declared Out In IPL 2023 RR vs DC Match- Here's Why
IPL 2023: In a bizarre instance during Warner's innings, the DC skipper was declared out in the 17th over of the innings but was called back.
Rajasthan Royals registered a dominating win over Delhi Capitals in match number 11 of IPL 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday. Even though it was DC who won the toss, they invited RR to bat first. However, the plan backfired as the inaugural champions took the attack to the opposition right from the world go with Yashasvi Jaiswal (60 off 31) playing the role of aggressor initially. Jos Buttler (79 off 51) also joined in and both scored half-centuries.
Delhi Capitals did make a comeback of sorts when Jaiswal and Sanju Samson (0) departed in quick succession and Riyan Parag (7 off 11) failed to leave an impact on his home ground but Buttler batted deeper into the innings and ensured that RR stay on track to a big total. Eventually, Shimron Hetmyer's (39 off 21) knock also helped RR's cause as they gave DC a target of 200 runs to win.
In response, DC lost their Impact Player Prithvi Shaw and debutant Manish Pandey for ducks in the very first over with Trent Boult also delivering a double-wicket maiden. DC captain David Warner did score a half-century (65 off 55) but it came at an underwhelming strike rate. In a bizarre instance during his innings, Warner was declared out in the 17th over of the innings having been caught in the deep. However, he was called back as it was declared a no-ball.
However, it wasn't a no-ball for above waist height full-toss or overstepping but because Yashavi Jaiswal, who was supposed to be stationed inside the 30-yard circle, was standing 2 yards outside where was meant to be. Because of this, a no-ball was signalled due to the fielding restriction violation and hence Warner survived.
However, it was one of those innings where he just couldn't hit as many boundaries as he wanted even when the required run rate had surged past 20. Eventually, he got out in the 19th over, not being able to make much of a difference to the result or the margin of the team's defeat.
This was Delhi's third successive defeat and RR's second win in three matches.
