Is Jadeja's Time Up? CSK All-Rounder's Poor Run Continues In IPL 2025

Jadeja's performance in IPL 2025 has been far from his best.

Chennai Super Kings' campaign in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 continues to unravel, with the team suffering its fifth straight defeat-this time at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders.

CSK, led by MS Dhoni, has been underwhelming in both batting and bowling departments this season. Among the major concerns is the poor form of senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, whose lack of impact has started to hurt the team.

Jadeja's Poor Outing Against KKR

Facing KKR at Chepauk on April 11, Chennai Super Kings collapsed for just 103 runs while batting first.

Ravindra Jadeja, expected to steady the innings, was dismissed for a duck after facing only two deliveries. With the ball, he was handed just one over, in which he conceded 9 runs. Rinku Singh sealed the game on the first two deliveries of that over - a no-ball followed by a six - leading KKR to a big win in just 10.1 overs.

Disappointing Season Stats

Jadeja's performance in IPL 2025 has been far from his best. In six matches, he has managed to score only 85 runs and take just two wickets. Despite continued support from the team management, the 36-year-old has struggled to contribute meaningfully with either bat or ball, raising questions about his place in the playing XI.

Crucial Match Ahead

CSK's next challenge comes on April 14 when they face Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

With the team currently placed ninth on the points table, the match could prove decisive in turning around their fortunes - or cementing their decline.

In the IPL, teams that finish the league stage with 16 points are almost always assured of a place in the playoffs. Last season, RCB managed to qualify despite a disastrous start - losing seven of their first eight matches. They eventually secured the fourth spot with 14 points from 14 games.

CSK still have an outside chance of making the playoffs. They must win all their remaining matches and also rely on other results to go in their favor.

If CSK manage to win out, they’ll end the league phase with 16 points - likely enough for qualification. Even if they finish with 14 points, they could still be in contention, depending on the net run rate and the overall standings of other teams.
