India strengthened its claim for a spot in the finals of the high-octane World Test Championship (WTC) following big win over Australia in IND vs AUS Nagpur Test.
World Test Championship 2023 Points Table: Entertaining knocks from Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel and lethal bowling from spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja powered helped hosts India beat Australia by an innings and 132 runs on Saturday, at the Vidarbha Cricket Stadium in Nagpur. By the virtue of this win, India have taken a 1-0 lead over Aussies in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

India's emphatic win over Australia has helped them improve win percentage in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table. India has strengthened its claim for a spot in the finals of the high-octane World Test Championship (WTC) with a win percentage of 61.67. India were at second place in WTC Points table with 58.93 win percentage before IND vs AUS 1st Test match, while after the win, Rohit Shama & Co. retained the second position but with an improved win percentage of 61.67.
The Australian cricket team held the number one spot in WTC Points Table with a win percentage of 75.56 before IND vs AUS Nagpur Test match. Despite a humiliating loss against India in 1st Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia has managed to retain the number one position in WTC Points Table with a win percentage of 70.83. Team India has benefited in the win percentage, while Australia suffered a loss.
Apart from India-Australia, Sri Lanka (win percentage of 53.33) and South Africa (win percentage of 48.72) are also contenders for qualifying for World Test Championship (WTC) final. South Africa will host West Indies for a two-match Test series and Sri Lanka will play a two-match Test series against New Zealand.
The final of the World Test Championship will be played in England from 7 to 11 June. Australia needs just one win to reach the WTC final. However, India is yet to confirm its place in the final of WTC for the second time in a row. To reach the WTC final, India will have to win at least two more matches out of the remaining three matches of the four-match Border-Gavaskar series.
