With 34 sixes in 2024, Jaiswal now leads an elite list that includes Ben Stokes (26 sixes in 2022), Adam Gilchrist (22 sixes in 2005), and Virender Sehwag (22 sixes in 2008).
Jaiswal's second six of his innings secured his place in history, which helped India build a commanding lead of 218 runs at stumps on day 2. KL Rahul contributed with unbeaten 62 as the duo forged an unbroken 172-run opening partnership.
India stages inspiring comeback in Perth Test
India won the toss and asked hosts Australia to bowl first in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. After being bowled out for mere 150 in their first innings on day 1, stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah and other Indian bowlers led a spirited fightback, bowling Australia out for just 104 on day 2 to secure a crucial 46-run lead for India.
Then, in second innings, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul put together an unbroken 172-run stand for first wicket, strengthening India's grip on the match. Jaiswal dazzled with an unbeaten 90, while Rahul played a steady hand with 62 not out.
By stumps on Day 2, India extended their lead to a solid 218 runs.
