‘I Bowl Faster Than You’: Mitchell Starc Gives Cheeky Warning To KKR Teammate Harshit Rana During IND vs AUS Perth Test | WATCH

Mitchell Starc and debutant Harshit Rana shared a lighthearted moment during the Perth Test as India staged a remarkable comeback in the BGT opener.

India staged a remarkable comeback in the 1st IND vs AUS Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at Perth. Despite being dismissed for 150, Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul turned the game in India’s favour as the Indians bowled the Australian out for 104 runs in their first batting innings. At one point, Australia faced the risk of recording their lowest Test score against India—83—but a late cameo from Mitchell Starc spared them from that ignominy.

Debutant Harshit Rana eventually claimed Starc’s wicket but not before getting involved for a friendly banter with the Australian spearhead. Right from the get-go on Day 2, Rana kept Starc on his toes, offering little room to manoeuvre. In his second over, he delivered a short-of-length ball that kicked up extra bounce, surprising Starc, though the edge fell just short of the slips. After fending off the sharp delivery, Starc exchanged a few words with his former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate.

'Harshit, I Bowl Faster Than You': Starc

As the Indian debutant returned to his mark, the seasoned Mitchell Starc, caught on the stump microphone, cheekily reminded him who held the speed advantage.  "Harshit, I bowl faster than you. I've got a long memory," quipped Starc with a grin, hinting at potential payback when the Indian tailender takes the crease.

Australia's celebrations were short-lived after dismissing India for 150 in the first innings, as the Indian bowlers launched a fierce counterattack. Jasprit Bumrah took a brilliant five-wicket haul, while Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj chipped in with two wickets each, leaving the hosts struggling at 79-9. However, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood added a vital 25 runs for the final wicket before Harshit dismissed Starc, restricting Australia to 104.

With a lead of 46 runs, India responded strongly in their second innings. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul built an unbeaten partnership of 137 runs, extending India’s lead to 183 runs at the time of writing.
