World Cup 2023 Points Table: Updated Tally After IND vs BAN Match In Pune

World Cup 2023 Points Table: India did get two points from the match against Bangladesh but it did not change their position at the points table.

World Cup 2023 Points Table: In a remarkable display of cricketing prowess, India secured their fourth consecutive victory in the World Cup by defeating Bangladesh with a seven-wicket win. The match, held on Thursday, showcased a stellar performance by the Indian team. However, despite their win over the Bangla Tigers, there hasn't been a change in their position at the World Cup 2023 points table. Even before IND vs BAN match, the Men in Blue were at the second place at the Cricket World Cup 2023 points table with 6 points from 3 matches, the win might have taken them to 8 points from 4 matches but they continue to remain at the second place in the position.

This is because while India and New Zealand are tied on points at the World Cup 2023 points table, it is the Kiwis who edge India on the Net Run rate (NRR). The Black Caps have a NRR of +1.923 while that of India stands at +1.659. South Africa and Pakistan are the other two sides that complete the top four. Notably, only the top four teams at the World Cup 2023 points table at the end of the round-robin stagewill qualify for the semifinals.

Kohli's Unbeaten Century Lights Up India's Chase

Meanwhile, talking about the IND vs BAN match at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, was the star of the day as he anchored India's chase for a target of 257 runs. His brilliant, unbeaten century, consisting of 103 runs scored from 97 balls, adorned with 6 fours and 4 twos, proved to be the cornerstone of India's victory. This century marked Kohli's 48th in the ODI format, further solidifying his reputation as one of the cricketing greats.

Solid Opening Stand by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill

India's innings started off on a strong note with a formidable opening partnership between skipper Rohit Sharma and young sensation Shubman Gill. They contributed 88 runs to the total score, setting the stage for India's victory.

Bangladesh Fails to Create a Challenging Total

On the flip side, Bangladesh, after electing to bat first, struggled to set a challenging total. Their innings concluded at 256 for eight. Indian bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja, played a pivotal role in restricting the Bangladeshi batsmen, each claiming two wickets.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 256/8 in 50 overs (Litton Das 66, Mahmudullah 46) India 261/3 in 41.3 overs (Virat Kohli 103 not out).
