Virat Kohli Deepfake Video: Virat Kohli, regarded as one of the finest batters of all time not just in India but also in the world, is often found being compared with other cricketing legends and sometimes even the contemporary prodigies. Fans, media and cricket enthusiasts often compare the former India captain with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and also with the young India batter Shubman Gill at times, hailing Gill as someone who could replicate what Kohli has achieved over the years. Amidst all this, a deepfake video of Virat Kohli has emerged purporting to show Kohli asserting that Shubman Gill is significantly inferior in comparison to himself.

The AI-doctored video features glimpses of Virat Kohli from his interview with Graham Bensinger back in 2019 with the sound being identical to the cricketer’s real voice.

Big Gap B/w Showing Promise & Becoming Legend: Kohli On Gill In Deepfake Video

The video shows Kohli criticising Gill and expressing that while Gill’s technique is solid, he is not as good as Kohli.

"When we came back from Australia, I figured out what it takes to succeed at the highest level. I have been watching Gill closely. He is talented, no doubt. But there's a big gap between showing promise and becoming a legend. Gill's technique is solid, but let's not get ahead of ourselves,” the deepfake video shows Kohli as saying.

The video takes things up a notch when it shows the AI-doctored Kohli saying, “there’s only one Virat Kohli.”

"People talk about the next Virat Kohli, but let me be clear, there's only one Virat Kohli. I have faced the toughest bowlers, delivered in the most intense situations, and done it consistently for over a decade. You can't replicate that with just a few good innings.

"If I make the wrong decision, I sit outside and I clap all day. In Indian cricket, there's the God, and then there's me. That's the benchmark. Gill has a long way to go before reaching that level," the deepfake video shows Kohli adding further.

Important to note, this is not the first time Kohli has been a victim of the deepfake technology. Back in February of this year, a circulating video on the internet showed Kohli endorsing a betting app called ‘Aviator,’ which promised significant returns from minimal investments.
