Juan Izquierdo Death: An unfortunate news has followed from the home of football — Brazil, as Juan Izquierdo sadly passed away after collapsing on the pitch during Nacional Vs Sao Paulo Copa Libertadores Round of 16 fixture in the Morumbi stadium on August 22.
Soon after collapsing on the pitch, medical staff stormed into the ground, but a five-day battle sees the Uruguayan now pass away, and the confirmation of his death came via his club Nacional on Wednesday, August 27.

As stated by the hospital 'Albert Einstein', the cause of death has been "cardiorespiratory arrest associated with his cardiac arrhythmia", reported The Guardian.
The Guardian further reported that the doctors in hospital, upon examining Juan Izquierdo, stated that the player was experiencing increased intracranial pressure, and was on ventilator and neurological critical care.
Opposition club Sao Paulo also expressed their hrief upon learning the passing of the 27-year-old.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino Offered Condolences To Izquierdo Family
"I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Uruguayan footballer Juan Izquierdo. On behalf of FIFA and the entire footballing community, I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends, to the Uruguayan Football Association, to Club Nacional de Football and to everyone at CONMEBOL. RIP," said Gianni Infantino in a relased statement, as reported by FIFA Media.
