Who Will Be Delhi's Next Chief Minister? Meet The 4 Frontrunners As BJP To Announce CM Shortly

BJP sources have said that the next CM will be from the 48 MLAs who have won the Delhi assembly elections. The party is also likely to make two Deputy CM, apart from naming the chief minister.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce the name of the next Delhi Chief Minister this evening. The BJP's legislature party meeting was held earlier today at the party's Delhi unit office and a meeting of the legislative assembly is scheduled for 7 pm to finalize the decision. 

Meanwhile, four probables have emerged as frontrunners for the Delhi CM's position. Rekha Gupta, BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, is among the frontrunners for the top post in Delhi. Sources have told ABP News that three other MLAs: Parvesh Verma, MLA from New Delhi; Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MLA from Rajouri Garden; and Vijender Gupta, MLA from Rohini, are also front runners for the top position.

All About Four Probables Of Delhi CM

Shalimar Bagh MLA Rekha Gupta is said to be the frontrunner in the race for the CM's chair after she defeated AAP's Bandana Kumari. Gupta will represent the constituency in the Delhi Assembly for the first time. 

Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta, the leader of opposition in the previous Delhi Assembly, scored a hat-trick of wins from Rohini, winning by 37,816 votes. 

Meanwhile, Parvesh Verma has emerged as the ‘giant killer’ of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile New Delhi constituency by a margin of 4,089 votes. Parvesh Verma is the son of former Delhi Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sahib Singh Verma.

Party sources have also said that the next CM will be from the 48 MLAs who have won the Delhi assembly elections. The party is also likely to make two Deputy CM, apart from naming the chief minister.

The BJP will also announce the name of two observers, who will overlook the oath-taking ceremony of the Delhi CM on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister is slated for February 20 (Thursday) at 12:30 pm at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.

The BJP has come to power after 26 years, defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls. The 48 BJP MLAs will chose the Leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly who will become the chief minister. 

The new chief minister after being chosen by the party MLAs will meet Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at the Raj Niwas to stake claim to power. Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for a grand swearing-in ceremony of the new government at Ramleela Ground on Thursday afternoon. 

Around 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues and the chief minister of the NDA ruled states among other guests, will attend the ceremony.

Over 50 celebrities including Akshay Kumar and Vivek Oberoi, famous industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani and diplomats from other countries have been sent invitations to attend the ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan, which can accommodate over 30,000 people.
