When Will Ramadan 2025 Begin In India?
This year, Ramadan is expected to start on February 28 or March 1, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon. The exact date of commencement is determined only after the new moon is sighted at the end of Sha’ban. If the moon is visible on February 28, the first Roza will be observed on March 1. However, if the crescent is seen on March 1, then fasting will commence from March 2. The final decision will be made based on moon sightings.
Typically, Saudi Arabia witnesses the Ramadan crescent moon before India. If, for any reason, the moon is not visible in India, the country follows Saudi Arabia’s moon sighting, and fasting begins accordingly. The same rule applies to the sighting of the Eid moon as well. Observing fasts during Ramadan is considered obligatory, as fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam.
How Do Muslims Observe The Fast?
Fasting (Roza) is a fundamental practice during Ramadan. It is considered one of the five pillars of Islam and is observed with deep devotion. Throughout the month, Muslims engage in reciting the Quran, offering prayers, and giving charity. It is believed that the holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during this sacred month.
The first Roza holds special significance, as it teaches patience and self-restraint. While fasting is observed throughout the entire month, the first fast is particularly important as it symbolises commitment, discipline, and faith in the divine teachings of Islam.
As the countdown to Ramadan 2025 begins, Muslims across India and the world prepare to embrace this spiritually enriching period with devotion and discipline.
