Rohit Sharma could be picked for Australia Tests: Reports

Rohit will get the nod not only because of his super form in white ball cricket but he is also the front-runner for the middle order’s slot in the Test side because of his ability to stroke the play on hard, bouncy tracks.

The disappointment for being ignored from the Test side soon after the highs of leading India to their seventh India Asia Cup title is about to end for Rohit Sharma. The Indian vice-captain in limited overs cricket will soon be back in whites and that too in Australia.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the right-hander, who played a stellar role both as an opener and a captain in the recently concluded Asia Cup will make a comeback into the Indian Test side for the Australia tour in December.

Rohit will get the nod not only because of his super form in white ball cricket but he is also the front-runner for the middle order’s slot in the Test side because of his ability to stroke the play on hard, bouncy tracks.

Rohit was surprisingly ignored for the Test side first for the England tour and now recently for the home series against West Indies. The decision came as a major surprise as the Indian middle order has not been scoring runs and India have been searching for a stable option at No. 6. Rohit’s exclusion created lot furore in the cricketing fraternity with former India cricketers Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh going to criticize the selectors.

However, if the recent reports are to be believed, then the 'Hit man' could be back in action against Mitchell Starc and Co in Australia. Rohit can bring a lot to the table than just positive stroke making. His experience will surely come in hand in hostile conditions in Australia and more importantly, he can give India an option at the top of the order particularly after the sudden dip in form of Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan.

Seeing the Indian openers struggle in England, Rohit had gone on record saying that he is prepared to open the innings even in Tests if the team management wants him to.
