Nathan Lyon backs Australia's under-siege bowling attack

Lyon, being one of the senior players in the squad, has been trying to help the young team members in learning the situation

Nathan Lyon, Australia’s leading spinner in whites, have backed team’s bowling unit after losing the ODI series to England.

Under the leadership of Tim Paine, the Aussies have lost 4 games to England on the trot. Ahead of the last face-off, to be played in Manchester, Lyon spoke on the current situation and stated that the experience gained on the English soil will ultimately lead to a good position.

“I think it's been a great learning curve and opportunity for all the bowlers," Lyon ahead of the final ODI.

"It's been great for them to learn to perform under pressure because playing in a World Cup – what I want to do, what everyone else in this squad wants to do – that's what you're going to come up against, being under pressure,” added Lyon.

Lyon, being one of the senior players in the squad, has been trying to help the young team members in learning the situation.

"It's something that I've been sharing," he said. "If I can hopefully share my experiences, that can help turn their learning around quicker,” said Lyon.

"It probably has been a big mentoring role in that side of things. I've enjoyed doing that part of it, and I feel like it helps my game as well, talking about spin bowling,” the 30-year-old added.

In the absence of experienced bowlers including Mitchel Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Lyon made his way in the Aussies dressing room in this series. However, he is yet to feature in the playing XI.
