Mohammed Shami Meets Nepal Team At NCA In Bengaluru, India Pacer Likely To Play For Bengal In Ranji Trophy
Recovering from an ankle surgery at the NCA in Bengaluru, India speedster Mohammed Shami spent some time with Nepal players. He is likely to make a comeback in Ranji Trophy where he plays for Bengal.
Mohammed Shami, star India fast bowler, spent some time with the Nepal cricket team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Notably, the Nepalese squad is currently at the NCA to prepare for the forthcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament in Canada.
As far as Shami is concerned, the premium Indian fast bowler has been out of action ever since the ODI World Cup 2023 in India last year owing to an ankle injury. When the injury seemed more serious than it was initially diagnosed, Shami had to undergo a surgery. As he is now under rehabilitation post recovery from the surgery, it is likely that the right-arm seamer will return to competitive cricket playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

Mohammed Shami Likely To Play One Or Both Of Bengal's Opening Ranji Trophy Matches
Shami's return is a highly-anticipated one post his outstanding contribution in the ODI World Cup 2023. India would want him back in top form ahead of two ICC events next year- the ICC World Test championship final, something which the team would want to qualify for and the ICC Champions Trophy where the Men in Blue have already qualified.
A report carried by news agency PTI claims that Shami is likely to play one or both of Bengal's opening Ranji Trophy matches. While Bengal's first match is an away fixture against Uttar Pradesh starting on October 11, their next game is a home match against Bihar beginning on October 18.
