IPL 2025: Four Teams Almost Certain To Secure Playoff Berths

Here's a look at four teams that are well on track to make the playoffs.

The Indian Premier League 2025 is progressing in an exciting manner. With more than half of the league-stage matches completed, the race for the playoffs is heating up, set to begin on May 20.

While some teams have fallen behind, a few have almost secured their places. Here's a look at four teams that are well on track to make the playoffs:

Four teams closing in on Playoff spots

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): RCB currently sits at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 14 points. After defeating Delhi Capitals at their home ground on Sunday, the team has recorded 7 wins and 3 losses in 10 matches. Given their strong performance, RCB's playoff qualification now appears almost certain.

Gujarat Titans (GT): Led by Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans occupy second place with 6 wins from 8 matches and an impressive net run rate of +1.104. With six league games remaining, GT needs just a couple of wins to virtually seal their playoff spot, making their qualification highly likely.

Mumbai Indians (MI): Mumbai Indians have staged a strong comeback after a slow start. With five consecutive victories, they have climbed to third place with 12 points. With four matches left, winning just two should be enough for MI to book their place in the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals (DC): Under Axar Patel's leadership, Delhi Capitals are also performing well. With 6 wins from 9 matches and 12 points, DC sits in fourth place. Although Mumbai, Gujarat, and Delhi each have 12 points, differences in net run rate separate their standings. Nonetheless, DC's playoff prospects look bright given their current form.

Playoff hopes fade for three teams

The playoff journey for Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad is nearly over. CSK currently sits at the bottom of the points table in 10th place with just 4 points. Rajasthan Royals are just above them at 9th, also with 4 points, while Sunrisers Hyderabad occupy 8th place with 6 points.
